We have had another exciting week in kindergarten!
Important Updates
- Students have been preparing for the Remembrance Day Assembly tomorrow at 10:45am. All families are welcome to attend. Please note, as this is a formal assembly, there will not be any clapping. Students will sing a song and have artwork on display.
- November 22 - Conferences. Please book a time slot with our online booking program beginning Monday, November 12 at 6:00am. There is NO school on Nov 22 & 23.
- Photo retakes are on Monday. Please return the original photo envelope with your child as this is required for retakes.
- We continue to explore the alphabet. For part of this, we ask each child to bring something that begins with that letter as we will be using these objects to draw/write/sort each day. Ex: A - you could bring in an apple, ant, picture of an avalanche. We will not do a letter on Fridays and the letters will go in order of the alphabet.
- Monday, Nov 12 - A
- Tuesday, Nov 13 - B
- Wednesday, Nov 14 - C
- Thursday, Nov 15 - D
- Heads up! We are having our second Spirit Day - Nov 29. AM Kinders will be letting the school know about our theme that day. CRAZY HAIR!
We learned about Remembrance Day and what peace means to us. We created watercolor poppies, a "Peace" friendship mural and finger-paint doves with our grade 2 buddies.

Literacy
We have started our alphabet inquiry. Some of the questions we explored this week include:
-Is the letter curvy or straight?
-Does the letter have a hole in it?
-What letters can you find in your name? What sounds do those letters make?
-What letter comes first in the alphabet? What letter comes last? How many letters are in the alphabet?
Math
Ask your child the following questions about patterns:
-What is a pattern? (A pattern is something that repeats. A
pattern happens over and over again).
-Where do we find patterns in the environment? (Example: clothing).
-What types of patterns are there? (Examples: color, size, and
body/action).
-Have your child create a body/action pattern (Example:
clap, stomp, clap, stomp).
Library Books
When your child returns their current book they can take out another. We can't wait to see what books they want to explore!
