Hello Families!
Kinder has been full of wonder this week!
Literacy
Students have started to explore superheroes! Students have used their new “Super Journals” to draw and label heroes. We are working on labeling pictures by sounding out the word. Please review letter sounds with your child at home (eg: A says A, A, A). Students are working on printing their name with appropriate letter case usage.
Thank you so much to everyone who has already sent in a
superhero letter for their child. Each day I will read a letter and we will
have a “Superhero” of the day. We are practicing compliments and your child
will receive compliments from their peers. This is a strong lesson for children
as it teaches them to give and receive compliments.
Math
Students have learned a new math game this week called “Roll A
Number”. Students roll a dice, subitize (ability
to quickly identify the number of items in a small set without counting) and record that number.
Ask your child to show you at home. Students are also working on printing
numbers. Please practice this at home (common reversals or tricky numbers
include 2, 5, 6, 9).
Robotics
PM kinders have enjoyed learning about Ozobots and working with
friends! AM kinders will start robotics next week.
