Hello Families!

Field trip forms:
We have sent home blue/green field trip forms this week. Please ensure to complete all sections of the form and return it with $2 in your child's folder. Thank you to those families that have already returned the form.

Self Portraits:
We have spent some time this week with our Kindergarten Specialist who is helping us learn to draw faces. Next week we will paint our portraits. We can't wait to share our journey with you at Student-Led conferences!

Literacy:
We are looking at picture books to see what the pictures tell us. We will use this information to ensure we are on the right track and reaching our target in our journals.

We had a lot of fun with literacy centres this week. Matching uppercase and lowercase letters with locks and keys, writing in shaving cream, making alien words using dice, making letters with play-doh and tracing letters with whiteboard markers. Ask your child what their favourite centre was.
What do pictures tell us? What do we notice?

Using our "noticing" to start to build our criteria for journals

Making "alien" words and sounding them out

 Self-Regulation:
We have begun our discussions about self-regulation and how we can control our bodies. What do we do when we are in a tired state? How can we move (up-regulate)into our Just Right for Learning state? What if we are frustrated or need to get the wiggles out? How can we move (down-regulate) into our Just Right for Learning state? Next week we will continue to build on our strategies and practice!
