Dear Families,

We have had another fun week in kindergarten!

Art: Self-Portraits
This week students really enjoyed working on self-portraits. They captured close details and engaged in feedback to enhance their work (eg: sharing something they were proud of and something they want to work on).

Gym: Gymnastics
Students enjoyed mat work and practiced safety concepts with a partner. Some of the stations included: log rolls, frog jumps, 3 body part balances etc.

Field Trip: Fish Creek Park
Please ensure to complete all sections of the field trip form and return it with $2 in your child's folder. Thank you to those families that have already returned the form. Thank you to everyone who has signed up for the field trip. We know it will be a great time!

Math: Problem Solving
Students continue to work on problem solving. We continue to review organization, strategies (drawing/labeling) and communication. This week we worked on solving the following problem:
When you look out a window, you see ten legs... what did you see?
This is an open-ended problem where children can use their creativity to show multiple answers (eg: 1 spider has 8 legs, 1 bird has 2 legs the total is 10 or 1 cat has 4 legs, 1 dog has 4 legs, 1 person has 2 legs the total is 10).

Pink Shirt Day: Kindness
Students really enjoyed learning about kindness, respect and being a good friend.
Kindness is:
"Sharing." –MM
"If someone gets hurt you ask if they are okay." -CS
"Playing with new friends." –LP
"You do nice things for other people." -MG
"Being a good friend."- KK
"If I did something wrong I would say I'm sorry." -CI
