April 4, 2019

Hello Families!

Welcome back after Spring Break!

Movement with a Message:

Beginning on Monday, April 8th, our Kindergarten friends will have the opportunity to participate in a dance residency called "Movement with a Message". During this residency children will dance, laugh, take risks and build resiliency. Please take a look at this YouTube video to learn more about this program. This residency will take place each day (Monday to Thursday) for 35 minutes over the next two weeks. Please ensure your child is dressed in comfortable clothing they will be able to show their moves in.

Literacy:

We often complete "directed drawings" in class where I pick an object and draw it step by step, describing the different shapes while our Kinders can view it on our document camera attached to the Smartboard. A sample of this activity was sent home on Wednesday (astronaut). We do these activities to build fine motor, listening, direction following and shape building skills. We hope you enjoy the different creations that come home each week.

Clay for Kids:
We will be participating in an in-school art experience on April 24. Letters were sent home in your child's folder today. If you would like to volunteer, please let me know.

Shave a Lid for a Kid:
During an assembly today we learned about Shave a Lid for a kid. More information will be sent home in the coming weeks but if your child mentions wanting to shave their head, raise money for friends with cancer or cutting off their pony tail, this is where it is coming from. Please let me know directly if you would like more information went home to participate.  We will have a school-wide assembly on Friday, May 10 to watch all of our friends who shave their lid for a kid/cut off their pony tail.

Garden Centre:
I would like to create a Garden Centre in our classroom to welcome Spring. If anyone has any small plastic pots, fake plants, fake flowers, toys at home that they wish to donate to our classroom, it would be GREATLY appreciated. Also looking for some fun coloured duct-tape. :)
