September 27, 2018

Hello families!

We have had another wonderful week in kindergarten. It was a pleasure to meet with all families at conferences last week. We truly value the information you provided regarding your child and we will use that information to further their programming.

This week we discussed Terry Fox and the impact he has made on Canadian history. The Terry Fox Run will be held on Friday, September 28th at 9:00am rain or shine! The afternoon (PM) kindergarten classes will be running and parents are welcome to join out on the field. AM students and families are welcome to attend, please feel free to meet us on the field.

Also on Friday, September 28th we will have "
Orange Shirt Day." This day was designed to educate people and promote awareness about the residential school system and the impact this system had on Indigenous communities for more than a century in Canada. It is held annually on September 30 in Canadian communities with students and staff being encouraged to wear an orange shirt to school that day. This is one of the many opportunities we have throughout the year to grow our understanding, and to show our support towards reconciliation.

This week we had our first fire drill practice. The students did a wonderful job following instructions and staying with their teacher. Ask your child about fire drill expectations and you could review a fire safety plan for your home.

Important Dates:
