Hello Families!
What a busy week it has been!! Hard to believe tomorrow is Friday.
This week we completed our Alphabet inquiry! Congrats to all kiddos who brought treasures in to share and a big thank you to our parents who helped hunt for objects each night. Having an object made the alphabet more "real" to our friends. We will continue to work on letters and more heavily on the sounds each letter makes. It would be helpful if you could help your child at home as well. This could be as simple as pointing to an object and asking what letter it starts with and seeing if your child can tell you the letter and the corresponding sound. Ex: I point to a bike. "What letter does 'bike' begin with? /b/ /b/ /b/ bike. "
Next week we will be working on our numbers 1-10. We have also been working a lot with open ended math questions. We look at 4 images and try to decide which one doesn't belong. This allows children to make decisions and justify their choice in our sharing time. There is not one correct answer.
Over the next few weeks we will be looking at Animals in Winter and working on scientific drawings of the Snowshoe Hare.
Afternoon friends have been busy with our Robotics residency. Thank you Mr. Newman for all of your expertise and support! Ask your child what happens with different coloured lines. There have been moments, like trying to get the robot to change speeds, that have not gone as planned but our children worked through these challenges like scientists and persevered. We look forward to more challenges next week.
Have a great weekend!
