We have had another wonderful week in kindergarten!
Volunteer Tea
Thank you to everyone who has volunteered in kindergarten this year. Your time is truly appreciated. On Thursday afternoon Andrew Sibbald School hosted the annual "Volunteer Tea." Thank you to everyone who attended. We couldn't do all of the fabulous "extras" without your continued support.
Math: Number Concepts & Problem Solving
We continue to review number concepts to 10 and work on strategies to solve problems (eg: draw a picture, use manipulatives). We have been playing a number/listening game called "Buzz" ask your child how to play at home.
Literacy: Writing
We have been working on rhyming words and blends (eg: st, th, ch). Students are applying their knowledge of sight words to their daily writing. They are working on labeling their illustrations and printing familiar patterned sentences (eg: I like, I can, I see). We continue to review neatness (eg: finger spaces and letters sitting on the line).
Literacy: Home Reading Books
All students are now taking books home to read. Please ensure your child brings their book back to exchange each day. If you did not have time to read the book please feel free to keep it at home until it has been read.
Kickball
This week kinders learned how to play kickball. We reviewed running bases, pitching and sportsmanship. Students are learning to work as a team and enjoyed coming up with team names.
Nickle Reading Buddies
Each Tuesday and Thursday students from Nickle School come and read with PM kindergarten students. We love their leadership!
Clay
I am so happy to hear that everyone loved the clay portraits. Check out the art below.
Have a wonderful weekend!
