Hello Families!

Thank you to Christine Smith who came in this week and spoke to our children about her role in our Canadian Military. We learned so much from her!

This week in gym we worked on our badminton skills. This is a great sport to work on hand-eye coordination.

In literacy we focused on the letters p, b, t, d, f, v, k and g. We have learned where our lips should be, where our tongue goes and if the sound is a quiet or noisy sound. Ask your child which sounds are quiet and which ones are noisy.

During math we have continued to focus on 2D and 3D shapes. Learning the vocabulary for sorting and identifying each shape. See if your child can explain the terms: edge, vertex, base, and face.

For the next month or so we will be having some students from Nickle School come visit us on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons to read with our Kindergarten friends. This will be a great opportunity to read some favourite books and practice our 'WH' questions (ex: Who are the main characters? Where does the story take place?).

Volunteer Tea - We would love to recognize all of our volunteers at our Volunteer Tea on Thursday, May 16. Please complete the form that was emailed/sent home in folders this week. If you have a child in AM Kindergarten that would need childcare and would like to attend the Volunteer Tea, you are welcome to have your child join us in PM Kindergarten for this event. A lot of the special things we do in Kindergarten are because of volunteers like you! Thank you!

remind | Eye See….Eye Learn®
As a reminder, children are eligible to participate in the Eye See…Eye Learn® program until they begin Grade One. Through Eye See….Eye Learn®, Doctors of Optometry detect, diagnose and treat eye health problems in children as they enter the school system. Alberta Health Care already covers the cost of comprehensive eye exams for all children in the province. This program takes that one step further by providing free eyeglasses to Kindergarten aged children who need a prescription.

Have a great weekend!
