Hello Families!
Another great week in our Kindergarten classrooms! We have had a STEM challenge, new centres, continued practice with our letter sounds, lots of outside time, Drumfit and practiced kicking soccer balls. In math we played a game that helped us work on "adding one" to a number using dice. And, we had a fun filled PJ Day with our favourite stuffies.
Thank you to our AM Kinder friends and parents for being flexible on our walking trip date change. We are tentatively booked for Monday, June 17. Once I have it confirmed, I will let you know.
On Monday we will be working with Teacher's Pet to do soapstone carving. This in school experience was generously paid for by our School Council. If you would like to volunteer, please let either your room parent know or myself. We are looking for 1-3 volunteers for our PM class.
Folders: Please ensure your child is bringing their black/red folder to school each day. This is very useful for notices and work being sent home. We use these folders starting in Kindergarten and continue all the way through Grade 6.
Sound/word cards: As we prepare for Grade 1, we are continuing to work on letter sounds, sight words and reading. If your child brings home letter/word cards and/or a book, please try to encourage them to read the sounds/words/book to you each night. The cards/books should be returned to school the next day. I check in with each child during the day to adjust their cards. This is individual to your child and all cards/books will be different depending on where your is at in terms of literacy.
Parenting Power Podcast: If you are interested, I recently did a workshop with this group and it was super helpful (as a parent). They have a podcast that you might want to check out:

Some PJ Day quotes:
"It was fun doing PJ Day because we got to wear PJs and bring our stuffies and we were really cozy." ~BB
"I liked doing PJ Day because we could put the stuffies in the blocks we use to build." ~MC
